Child Dental Benefit Scheme

Child Dental Benefit Scheme

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule or CDBS as its commonly known is a government initiative started in 2014 to provide access to basic dental services to children aged between 2 and 17 years.

The CDBS scheme provides children with access to dental care worth up to a $1000 for free. Although CDBS does not cover specialist services like orthodontic treatment, the benefits scheme does cover a wide range of general dental services like:

  • Dental Check-Ups
  • Dental Fissure Sealants
  • Root Canal Treatment
  • Tooth Extractions
  • X-Rays

Check out our Children’s Dentistry page to find out more about our dental services for children, you can also contact our friendly team to find out if your child is eligible and book in your child’s dental appointment.

Your child’s eligibility for CDBS will depend on whether they are on a Medicare card and only if your family is already claiming a relevant government payment such as the family tax benefit. Eligibility will ensure that the above dental care can be obtained for free up to a value of $1000 per child over a period of 2 years. To find out if your family is eligible contact Medicare on 132 011 or visit the Department of Human Services website.
