Who are the dentists at the Croydon clinic?

The clinical team is led by Dr Shilani Piyasena, who took over as Principal Dentist and Co-Director after practising on the Gold Coast and in Melbourne's eastern suburbs for over a decade. She graduated from Griffith University in 2013 and is registered with AHPRA (DEN0001860199). Dr Shilani, as her patients call her, is known for taking time to explain what she is about to do, particularly with nervous patients.

Dr Ian Gould is a co-founder of the practice and has practised dentistry for 43 years since graduating from the University of Melbourne in 1983 (AHPRA DEN0000952415). He looks after generations of Croydon families who have been coming to the same clinic for years.

Dr Tran Nguyen joined the team after practising across rural Victoria. She graduated from La Trobe University in 2019 (AHPRA DEN0002321088), speaks English and Vietnamese, and has a Postgraduate Certificate in Implant Dentistry from the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology (2024). A significant part of her practice is helping anxious patients get back into the chair.

The $299 new patient package is the most common way new patients start with us. It is built around the questions a dentist needs to answer before any treatment plan can be drawn up: what is happening in your mouth right now, what does the X-ray and 3D scan show, what does the gum health look like, and what would you like to change. By the end of the 60-minute appointment, you leave with a written treatment plan, itemised quotes, and a clear next step — whether that is a clean in six months or a longer plan across the year.
