Who looks after Heathmont patients at the clinic?

Heathmont patients see the same three dentists who look after the rest of our patient base:

  • Dr Shilani Piyasena is the Principal Dentist and Co-Director. She graduated from Griffith University in 2013, has practised for 13 years across the Gold Coast and Melbourne, and is registered with AHPRA (DEN0001860199). She takes time with nervous patients and explains what she is about to do before doing it.
  • Dr Ian Gould is a co-founder of the practice. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1983, has practised for 43 years, and is registered with AHPRA (DEN0000952415). Many of his patients have been with him for decades.
  • Dr Tran Nguyen joined the team after practising across rural Victoria. She graduated from La Trobe University in 2019, holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Implant Dentistry from the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology (2024), and is registered with AHPRA (DEN0002321088). She speaks English and Vietnamese.

How much does a Heathmont dentist cost?

Our new patient package is $299 (valued at $575) and includes a comprehensive check-up, intra-oral X-rays, 3D scans, scale and clean, fluoride treatment, an oral cancer check, and a written treatment plan with itemised quotes. We are an HCF Preferred Provider, which means HCF members get their maximum allowable benefit on most preventive services.
For ongoing treatment, we give you a written quote before any work is booked. Costs vary by treatment: a check-up and clean with a private health fund rebate typically leaves a small out-of-pocket gap, while more involved work (crowns, implants, orthodontics) is quoted on a case-by-case basis. Do you see children from Heathmont?

Yes. We see children of all ages, from babies getting their first tooth through to teenagers. The first visit for a young child is a short, gentle introduction to the surgery so they get used to the sounds and the chair before any treatment happens. Eligible children are bulk-billed under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule for check-ups, cleans, X-rays, fissure sealants, and fillings. The CDBS provides up to $1,095 over two years for basic dental services for kids aged 0–17 who are eligible for Medicare.

For teenagers, we also do orthodontic assessments, custom mouthguards for sport, and wisdom teeth reviews as the adult teeth come through. Many Heathmont families end up using us as the regular clinic for the kids, with one parent bringing them in on the way home from school or Saturday sport at H.E. Parker Reserve.
