Dr Shilani Piyasena (or just Dr Shilz to those who know her well) is the Principal Dentist and Co-Director of The Fine Tooth Company. With over a decade of clinical experience, she’s known for her ability to make even the most nervous patients feel comfortable—blending clinical precision with a genuinely warm and approachable style. She manages to combine clinical excellence with a fresh, welcoming vibe that feels more like visiting a friend than the dentist.

Shilani graduated from Griffith University in the sunny Gold Coast and worked in private practice there for several years before making the move to Melbourne in 2015. After spending nearly a decade growing her skills in a busy family clinic, she recently took the exciting leap of purchasing The Fine Tooth Company—an already established and much-loved practice with a fantastic existing team and loyal patient base.

Her interests span across cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, pre-orthodontic care for children, implants, and surgical dentistry, but what really sets her apart is her ability to connect. Whether you’re in for a smile makeover or a simple check-up, she’s known for creating a space where patients feel genuinely seen, heard, and looked after.

When she’s not in the clinic, Shilani is chasing around her 5-year-old daughter, drinking too much coffee, and somehow still calling dentistry her second baby. It’s clear that her passion for people and creating confident, healthy smiles is more than just a job—it’s a calling.
