Most Mooroolbark families use us as their regular clinic, with check-ups, cleans, fillings, mouthguards, and orthodontic reviews all happening at the Croydon location. Larger work (orthodontics, complex restorative, implants) is either treated in-house at the Croydon location or coordinated with a specialist we work with regularly. You do not need to navigate the referral process on your own.
You will be seen by the same team that looks after the rest of our patient base: Dr Shilani Piyasena (Principal Dentist and Co-Director, Griffith University 2013, AHPRA DEN0001860199), Dr Ian Gould (co-founder, University of Melbourne 1983, AHPRA DEN0000952415), and Dr Tran Nguyen (La Trobe University 2019, AHPRA DEN0002321088, fluent in English and Vietnamese).
Each dentist is registered with AHPRA and practises in line with the Australian Dental Association standards.
Our new patient package is $299 (valued at $575) and includes a comprehensive check-up, intra-oral X-rays, 3D scans, scale and clean, fluoride treatment, an oral cancer check, and a written treatment plan. We are an HCF Preferred Provider, which gives HCF members their maximum allowable benefit on most preventive services.
For ongoing treatment, we give you a written quote before any work is booked. Payment options include Afterpay for smaller treatment, National Dental Plan for larger treatment plans, on-the-spot HICAPS claiming, and Eftpos. Eligible children can be bulk-billed under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
Yes. We see children of all ages, from babies getting their first tooth through to teenagers. The first visit for a young child is a short, gentle introduction to the surgery so they get used to the sounds and the chair before any treatment. Eligible kids are bulk-billed under the CDBS for check-ups, cleans, X-rays, fissure sealants, and fillings.
Book your appointment online through our contact page or call (03) 9723 1100 during clinic hours. We hold new patient appointments most weeks and can usually fit you in within a week.
The new patient appointment is 60 minutes. We take a full medical and dental history, examine teeth, gums, soft tissue, bite, and jaw, take any X-rays that are needed, do a scale and clean, apply fluoride, and finish with a written treatment plan and itemised quotes. It is the same appointment whether you are six or sixty.
If you have not been to the dentist in a while, the new patient package is the easiest way back in. We do not judge. We see plenty of Mooroolbark patients who have put it off for years for cost, anxiety, or simply not having a regular dentist. The first visit is a conversation as much as it is an examination, and we work at the pace you are comfortable with.
We hold same-day emergency slots for patients in pain, with trauma, abscess, or a knocked-out tooth. Call (03) 9723 1100 as early in the day as you can and we will fit you in. For knocked-out teeth, time matters: gently rinse (do not scrub), try to place it back in the socket, and come in within 30 minutes if possible. Our emergency dentist page covers what to do in the first 30 minutes.
