Ringwood families have a straightforward option for full-service family dentistry about 10 minutes down Mt Dandenong Rd: The Fine Tooth Company in Croydon. We have been looking after patients from Ringwood, Eastland, and the surrounding streets for years, and we know the trip is short enough to make the practice your regular dentist rather than a once-in-a-while visit.
This page covers how to find us, what we offer Ringwood families, who looks after you when you arrive, what it costs, and how to book. If you have a specific question, the FAQ at the bottom covers the most common ones.
Ringwood is one of the larger activity centres in Melbourne’s east, with a mix of demographics, higher density housing around the transit hub, and a steady stream of families moving through for the schools and shopping. What that means in practice is a wide variety of dental needs at every life stage. We see Ringwood patients from:
The Fine Tooth Company has the scope to cover all of it under one roof, which is the main reason Ringwood families make the short trip to Croydon rather than picking a clinic in their immediate neighbourhood.
We are about 6 km southwest of central Ringwood, roughly a 10-minute drive down Mt Dandenong Rd. The route runs through Ringwood past Eastland Shopping Centre and Costco Ringwood, past Aquanation in Ringwood, and on to Croydon. If you are coming by public transport, the 664 bus runs from Ringwood Station down Mt Dandenong Rd and stops a 2-minute walk from the clinic.
There is parking on site and on the surrounding streets, and the practice is step-free from the footpath.

Most of the day-to-day work happens in the same surgery where you have your check-up, with the same team you already know. For more involved work (orthodontics, complex restorative, oral surgery, implants), we either treat it in-house at our Croydon location or coordinate with a trusted specialist who does. You do not need to navigate the referral process on your own.
Ringwood patients are seen by the same team that looks after the rest of our patient base: Dr Shilani Piyasena (Principal Dentist and Co-Director, Griffith University 2013, AHPRA DEN0001860199), Dr Ian Gould (co-founder, University of Melbourne 1983, AHPRA DEN0000952415), and Dr Tran Nguyen (La Trobe University 2019, AHPRA DEN0002321088, fluent in English and Vietnamese).
Each dentist is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and practises in accordance with the Australian Dental Association standards.
Our new patient package is $299 (valued at $575) and includes a comprehensive check-up, intra-oral X-rays, 3D scans, scale and clean, fluoride treatment, an oral cancer check, and a written treatment plan. We are an HCF Preferred Provider, which gives HCF members their maximum allowable benefit on most preventive services.
For ongoing treatment, we give you a written quote before any work is booked. Payment options include Afterpay for smaller treatment, National Dental Plan for larger treatment plans, on-the-spot HICAPS claiming, and Eftpos. We also accept the Child Dental Benefits Schedule for eligible children. See our payment options and pricing pages for details.

We hold same-day emergency slots for patients in pain, with trauma, abscess, or a knocked-out tooth. Call (03) 9723 1100 as early in the day as you can and we will fit you in. For knocked-out teeth, time matters: gently rinse the tooth (do not scrub), try to place it back in the socket, and come in within 30 minutes if possible. If you cannot re-implant it, store it in milk or saliva and bring it with you. Our emergency dentist page covers what to do in the first 30 minutes for the most common emergencies.
Book your appointment online through our contact page or call (03) 9723 1100 during clinic hours. If you would prefer to send us a message first, we will get back to you the same business day.
The new patient appointment is 60 minutes. We take a full medical and dental history, examine teeth, gums, soft tissue, bite, and jaw, take any X-rays that are needed, do a scale and clean, apply fluoride, and finish with a written treatment plan and itemised quotes.
If you have not been to the dentist in a while, the new patient package is the easiest way back in. We do not judge. We see plenty of patients who have put it off for years for cost, anxiety, or simply not having a regular dentist. The first visit is a conversation as much as it is an examination, and we work at the pace you are comfortable with.
For teenagers, we also do orthodontic assessments, mouthguards for sport, and wisdom teeth reviews as the adult teeth come through. Many Ringwood families end up using us as the regular clinic for the kids, with one parent bringing them in on the way home from school or sport on a Saturday morning.
