Thank you to Dr Vikash Makan for your compassionate approach today. Unlike other dentists you took the time to diagnose my condition and put together an action plan that doesn’t blow out the budget! Will definitely be back, and have you tend to the whole family too(th)!!
I've been seeing Dr. Gould for over 20 years, and I genuinely look forward to my bi-annual checkup. His expertise in dentistry is top-notch, and the care he shows towards his patients is unmatched. I'd be extremely confident that the qualities I've listed would also be seen with his fellow dentists at The Fine Tooth Company.

FAQ's

What are wisdom teeth and why do they need to be removed?
Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to emerge, typically between the ages of 17 and 25. They often need to be removed when they do not have enough space to emerge properly, resulting in impacted wisdom teeth which can cause pain, infection, and other dental issues.
What is the procedure for wisdom teeth removal at The Fine Tooth Company in Croydon?
At The Fine Tooth Company, wisdom teeth removal is performed under local anaesthetic to numb the area around the tooth. The dentist will then carefully extract the wisdom tooth. For anxious patients, sedation can be provided to ensure a comfortable experience. In more complex cases, you may be referred to our in-house oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
What is an impacted wisdom tooth?
An impacted wisdom tooth is one that does not have enough space to emerge or develop normally. This can cause the tooth to become wedged in the jaw, leading to pain, swelling, infection, and damage to adjacent teeth and bone.
Will I be awake during the wisdom teeth removal procedure?
Yes, you will be awake during the procedure if it is performed under local anaesthetic. However, if you are anxious or the procedure is more complex, sedation can be provided. For very complex cases, the procedure might be performed under general anaesthetic at a hospital.
How should I prepare for wisdom teeth removal?
Before your procedure, it is important to follow any instructions provided by your dentist, which may include fasting if you are having sedation or general anaesthetic. Arrange for someone to drive you home afterward, and plan to take it easy for a few days post-procedure.
What can I expect during recovery after wisdom teeth removal?
After the procedure, you may experience some swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can be managed with prescribed pain medication and ice packs. It is important to follow your dentist’s aftercare instructions, such as eating soft foods, avoiding strenuous activities, and keeping the extraction site clean to promote healing. Most patients recover within a week.
